Meet the Team

Dedication. Expertise. Passion.

SHERR doesn't exist without the vision of its founder and director, Gin Wiltsey, and the dedication of its many volunteers. This team of horse-loving badasses dedicate countless hours to feeding, cleaning, fixing, nurturing, shoveling, doctoring, and loving all the challenges we encounter. If you know any of these folks, consider yourself blessed!

Our fearless leader, SHERR director

Gin Wiltsey

Gin has had a heart for rescuing animals for decades. She ran a dog rescue for years prior to founding SHERR, and she has provided care and love for a wide variety of critters along the way!

The Enforcer

Mitzi Baker

Mitzi is a honey badger with a heart — she lays down the law and makes everything run smoothly at the farm, but she also has a huge heart for people and animals alike.

The Punk

Trish Kemerly

Trish is a professor by day and, like Clark Kent, loses her nerdy glasses and throws on a cape to rescue furry friends in need — be it horses, dogs, cats, goats, pigs, and a squirrel named Roscoe.

The Muscle

Larry Baker

Larry is the strong, silent type — except when you get to know him and he's less silent. He's the resident fixer and builder at SHERR, and is especially fond of his pet project, the golf cart.

The Ex-Patriot

Angela McFarland

Angela was a long-time volunteer at SHERR until she bought her own farm, and took five of the SHERR rescues with her (along with three cats)! She still is a SHERR contributor, even if she doesn't muck OUR stalls anymore.

The Fam

The Bishops

Paul, Kim, Delia, and Will have been a part of the rescue crew for a lonnnngggg time -- like before SHERR was SHERR. The Fam volunteered for Gin Wiltsey when she was still rescuing smaller critters (like dogs), but they've since joined the dark side and adopted two horses.

The Sassy One

Grayson Frye

Here's another kid that's worth her weight in gold. Or horses. Speaking of gold, she's got a heart that's priceless. Plus, she's a good sport for all the sass we give her on a regular basis.

The Horder

Kim Miller

Kim Miller has never said no to an animal in need, even if that critter is mean and will bite the crap out of you. So yeah, she's kind of terrifying. But for real, this woman works as hard as a, umm, horse. She has her own farm and spends her free time just doing extra farm work! We love her.

The Kid

Kendra Lake

Anyone under 30 shall henceforth be called "Kid." So this kid here works harder than five kids her age. Plus, she's fun to be around. So we're gonna keep her.

The Fixer

Bill Overman

Bill is the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back. Luckily, we all have shirts. But we still really love having him around because he knows how to fix all the things. He's laid-back until somethin' needs fixin' — then he's all business!

The Sweet Girl

Lil' Lauren

This girl has never met a horse she wouldn't ride. She's fearless and fiesty, and loves a challenge! She invested her energy into one rescue, Grayson, who was kind of a knucklehead. But Lauren has an amazing relationship with him, and ultimately adopted him as her own!

The Lovable Brat

Hailey Rich

Hailey just appeared one day and started doing chores with us. We're not sure where she came from. But she's a sweetheart who loves helping out around the barn and getting nuzzles while grooming horses, so that makes her pretty great in our book.

The Wild Child

Sierra Miller

Sierra loves all things outdoors, and she's always down for helping to feed the horses with her mom Kim, groom the horses that need it, and take out her favorite Sunny out for a trail ride. She's a big help to SHERR, and we are so thankful she spends her time with us!
